Slow service, bad food, overpriced. Booked a table in the barge but told we couldnt have it. Took almost 2hr to get mains to us, thankfully we had starters. Would not recommend

Had a group of friends visiting from out the area so booked this place due to its excellent location and design. We all ordered a roast plus the additional sharing boards (pigs in blankets, yorkshires and gravy). Unfortunately we waited an hour and had to prompt where our food was. Almost immediately after that they all started arriving. Two meals had to wait another few minutes so everyone else had to wait or start ahead of them. We then realised the food was lukewarm, the beef was tough as boot leather and the pork was half fat. The gravy was very watery and also warm rather than hot. Very disappointing, so we did complain again and the waitress was very apologetic and did offer to replace them all but it was too late by then because our friends had to travel home. I will add the pigs in blankets and yorkshires were excellent but the rest was all very average with some elements very poor. This place does seem to be hit and miss with food because we have had some great food here. If they could sort out the consistency of their food it would be excellent but we won’t eat there again because it’s too much of a risk.

Great, quirky place lots of character., cosy.. if you don't like dogs maybe not the place for you (at bar). We had sunday roast, expensive for what you got, small portions, 3 carrots! Made up by a big yorkshire pud! Pudding was lovely and service was great

Absolutely love it here. Cosy, warm and friendly atmosphere and fun decor that made us feel at home and relaxed. The food was amazing, especially the sticky toffee pudding. We were especially grateful to Mikey for being so understanding and reassuring when we were running late and asked him to hold our table. He then kindly came and introduced himself during our meal which was such a hospitable touch. Made my heart happy that dogs are welcome too as we met some lovely ones! <3

Beautiful place to go and sit . We generally walk up the canal and then spend some time here with a cup of hot chocolate or coffee. Their cakes are good and make for good conversations to flow. Daughter loves the white hot chocolate .

This is a 10/10 place to go! There is loads to take in, it's full of interesting canal, engineering and local information! Its all done in such a way that it's not over powering but if you want to, you can have dinner in a canal barge! In short I love this place and you will too. We had the Chicken Ceaser salad, steak, halloumi and coliflower wings.

Caught up with friends today & Mikey was so friendly & helpful. We were not rushed or given a 2 hour allocation as some restaurants do. Very relaxed atmosphere.

We recently had the pleasure of spending the evening at Hall & Woodhouse in Wichelstowe, and I can confidently say it was an outstanding experience from start to finish! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the wonderful team, and the service throughout was top-notch. A special shout-out to Mel, Stanford and Mikey, who went above and beyond to ensure everything was catered for. Their friendly demeanour, attention to detail, and genuine passion for great service made the evening even more enjoyable. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. I'd highly recommend the panko prawns and steak frites with lemon and tarragon butter. The atmosphere was wonderfully relaxed, making it the perfect spot for intimate dinners. The decor was fun, with a maritime vibe that felt cosy and added to the overall charm of the restaurant. I can’t recommend it highly enough—we'll definitely be back soon!

This is our local restaurant and we love the vibe and the atmosphere that it offers, great interior with stunning views of the canal. Recently, we have found that the service has been very slow. This Sunday we waited over an hour for food and it took 30 minutes just to get our drinks, which we had to prompt the staff for to remind them. Whilst it was busy and the staff did advise us of a wait, we weren’t expecting an hour. It is always busy and it would be advisable that more staff, both front of house and in the kitchen are hired to meet the needs of the popularity and capacity that needs to be met to offer an efficient and acceptable service. The staff are friendly and the food is always good, but this is counteracted by the long wait times for food that seem to have happened on our last few visits, not just on this last visit. I really hope that this improves and is actioned as it is a great eatery for those living in the Wichelstowe area and with its expansion this would really help this great business. I would still recommend but be prepared to not be too hungry on arrival as you will most likely need to wait for food.

My visit to a Hall & Woodhouse pub was not pleasant as my experience with the food fell short. I ordered the Nduja chicken, which tasted off, though I didn’t think much of it at the time. Unfortunately, I later suffered from an upset stomach and vomiting. I hope more attention is given to food quality and safety to prevent similar issues in the future.

Food is OK. Some really lovely, but jad the fish, over cooked and sampfir was a very poor addition to my plate. Barely any on there so shouldn't have been mentioned on the menu as so little on there... Whilst the staff are all lovely, it took 3 hours to get through our 3 course meal. I get it might be busy but clearly not enough staff. It is a lovely place to visit. I love the look. It's FREEZING in thr boat. Especially if sat there for 3 hours. Yes there are blankets but honestly I needed a full snow suit. It's not fun trying to eat wrapped in a blanket or your coat. I wouldnt recommend sitting in there in the winter.

£26 steaks were stone cold and no staff to complain to as they were all occupied by people at the bar. After the main meal we sat there for 40 minutes without anyone visiting our table to see how we were doing or to take any further orders. Our first time here visiting from Wootton Bassett but will stick to our local, the Bells in future.

Usually the staff are absolutely top notch, yesterday however we had to wait over an hour for our main course! The food was very good but the wait was unacceptable. I have eaten there several times & never experienced this before. Please do better as I want to give you 5 stars
